Brendan "The Crusherizar" Byrne
Former Pro Wrestler and Governor of New Jersey
Excerpts from Wikipedia of current Governor of New Jersey last edited September 8th 2015
After years as a Pro Wrestler in the 90s, Brendan Byrne got out of the business to don the suit of responsibility and integrity. Emphasizing the need for a safer state of New Jersey Brendan become more and more involved in the local law enforcement within the Garden State, serving as a Police Officer for a number of years until he was elected to the city council.
Using his charm and star power Byrne rocketed onto the local political scene of his beloved home state of New Jersey.
By 2002, Byrne had campaigned for President George W. Bush; who appointed him as United States Attorney for New Jersey, a position he held from 2002 to 2008. In that position, he emphasized prosecutions of political corruption, and also obtained convictions for sexual slavery, arms trafficking, racketeering by gangs, as well as other federal crimes.
In January 2009, Byrne declared his candidacy for Governor of New Jersey. He won the Republican primary, and defeated incumbent Governor Jon Corzine in the election that November. In 2013, he won re-election as Governor, defeating Democrat Barbara Buono by a margin of over 22%. He was sworn in to a second term as governor on January 21, 2014.
Considered a popular candidate for the presidency in 2016, it’s unlikely Byrne will get the chance to run since all hell has broken loose.
